Expunction/NonDisclosure
Didn’t get that job because your name came up on a criminal background check? Attorney Lynn Johnson can help you clear your record and your name if you qualify for an expunction or a non-disclosure.
How does an expunction differ from a non-disclosure? If your criminal case was dismissed, you were acquitted; or given deferred probation on a class C misdemeanor, you may be eligible for an expunction. If you file for an expungement and you are approved, your record will be wiped clean and you can deny that an arrest or charge ever happened.
If you successfully completed deferred adjudication probation, non-disclosure may be available. A non-disclosure ‘seals’ the arrest, charge, verdict, and probation records; and permits you to deny that an arrest or charge ever took place. However, the government is not ordered to destroy the criminal case information and may release the information to certain justice agencies if authorized by statute or executive order.
By Texas statute, not all criminal records are eligible to be expunged or sealed by a non-disclosure. Attorney Lynn Johnson will help you determine if you are eligible for an expunction or a non-disclosure and start the process to clear your criminal record.
